Breeding
This project has been in the works for quite some time now. We’ve done our best to give you some interesting lore related to breeding, and put the system itself through trial runs to balance the system and make sure people can have fun when their Devidae want to start a family (or just breed for the heck of it, since we figure there’s some like that somewhere out there)! Whether you’ve been waiting with bated breath or not, breeding is finally available for the group!
In the beginning of Devidae history, there was no such thing as breeding, as the Tree of Life personally created each one. However, after countless battles with the monsters that were said to attack the Tree day after day, breeding became a necessity for the species to survive in the then-unforgiving world. As time went on, the monster threat receded and the Devidae population grew, and breeding became a simple aspect of life that some decided to take part in.
Breeding is rather unique among Devidae. While it does take more than one to reproduce, it is a process that requires a large amount of magic, which is why it’s impossible for Devidae with small nubs or no nubs to have children. Devidae may have less nubs when attempting to breed, however it’s almost impossible to produce an egg.
Requirements
As much as we’d like to combine Devidae and see what their offspring would look like, there are a few requirements that must be met before they can try for children.
- They must be adult Devidae at five (5) months of age or older.
- There must be evidence that they have at least some sort of interest in each other.
- This means that each owner of the Devidae must draw the soon-to-be-parents at least twice (that’s two (2) times)!
- When drawing art to fill the requirement, please keep in mind that we want to see the Devidae actually being in a relationship! Have them go out on a date, be intimate with each other, even a little kiss!
- If you own both of the Devidae being bred, you will only draw the soon-to-be-parents twice!
- If you are a participant of a breeding (wether you sent the note or just offered a parent) you now only have 1 breeding slot left.
- Breeding slots reappear after 6 months, if you use both slots, you must wait for 6 months until you have one new one.
How Do I Submit my Devidae for Breeding?
Once you’ve gone through the process of having your Devidae court each other and prepare to have children, just send a note to the group with the following information:
- Users involved
- The Parents BIOLOGICAL parents
- Each parent along with...
- Adult application
- CCN
- Upgrades
- Magic (if applicable, rank and element)
- When listing magic, bold the element you would prefer to be passed down to the daeling, if it inherited magic.
- Most recent reference (or artwork they appear in, if you don’t make references often)
- Adult application
- Art of the relationship
- Which user will have ownership of the Daeling
We’ll soon put your Devidae together and find out the following of their children:
- Base color
- Eye color
- Five (5) upgrades inherited from parents
Designing a Bred Daeling
Bred Daelings must follow normal MYO rules, but with a few exceptions:
- Bred Daelings may display their inherited upgrades on the application
- If the Daeling inherited marking upgrades, this means they may have them on the application, unlike normal MYO!
- All upgrades must be shown on the application, you may remove the undesirable upgrades afterwards, like a normal upgrade.
- If the Daeling inherited marking upgrades, this means they may have them on the application, unlike normal MYO!
- In addition to having whatever base color they inherited from their parents, you may use up to three (3) body colors from any of the parents as marking colors.
- The eye color on the Daeling must match what was given to you in the note. If an optional secondary eye color was given, you must use it if you choose to give the Daeling duel colored eyes. If you had single eye colored parents, the Daeling can't have duel colored eyes..
How do I Submit the Daeling(s) for Approval?
A week after your Devidae have bred, you may now hatch the egg(s) you obtained! When going through this process, you use the same method as normal MYO’s. Place the bred daeling on the Bred Daeling template, fill out the description with the following information;
Name:
Gender:
Slot: Bred
Parents:
Date of Breeding:
Inherited Upgrades:
When filling out the "parents" section of the application, please provide links to their references/most recent images!
Name:
Gender:
Slot: Bred

Then submit it to the Daeling Approval Journal like you would any other Daeling...
… and wait for a mod to come approve the Daeling! Once it’s approved, it will be submitted to the group’s gallery, and your Devidae can enjoy raising their new child!
FAQ and Information
Q) If I collaborate with my breeding partner, who does the image belong to in terms of the required breeding images?
A: The image belongs to whoever uploaded it to DeviantArt and submitted it to the group.
Q) Do the Devidae have to be male and female, specifically, to breed?
A: Not at all! Devidae rely on magic alone to breed, so any and all Devidae can produce children regardless of gender,
whether it be male, female, toaster, or other! Just make sure that they aren’t in any familial relationships.
Q) Can I breed my own Devidae together?
A: You can indeed! As long as they are not related in familial bond or by blood you are free to breed your own Devidae together,
be warned though this takes up one breeding slot per dae.
Q) Can I breed my Devidae with a personal NPC?
A: You cannot. Any Devidae that wish to breed must exist as an official Devidae.
Q) Can we breed more than two (2) Devidae?
A: Actually, yes! Up to four (4) Devidae can breed together. Depending on the upgrades each one has, this can make a really
huge gene pool for the possible kids! Talk about crazy RNG, huh?
Q) How often can I breed my Devidae?
A: You can breed you Devidae as often as you would like to as long as you have enough breeding slots. Each person has 2
breeding slots naturally, so after using one, they have a secone slot they can still use until the first slot regenerates. The
natural slot "regen" is 6 months, so without items you can breed your Devidae four times a year.
Q) Can I re-roll breeding results?
A: You can re-roll the results once for free. Any other instances for re-rolling with a Re-Rolling Slip will need to be purchased via
the store. Alternatively, if you liked your original roll better than the ‘free-roll,’ you can use the original roll instead!
Q) What items can I use during breeding?
A: You have two items that can be used in breeding. The Heartfelt Potion, a pink vial of liquified magic that gives you an extra
breeding slot for each use, the Re-Rolling Slip, a piece of legal looking papers used to re-roll for a more desirable set of traits,
and the Bottle of Yaxie, a vile of pure magic which allows elemental magic to be passed down more easily!
Q) When I’m told which base color the Daeling received, do I use the original base color?
A: You use whatever base color the parent had upon breeding! If the color changed at any point after the breeding submission,
you may not use the new color. This rule also applies to marking colors.
Q) Can I get combined upgrades on my Daeling through this?
A: Yes! If the same type of upgrade gets rolled, they can be combined for free! So, if your Daeling gets two types of tail, they can
be combined on the Daeling!
Q) If my Devidae has dual colored nubs, what color will their child’s nubs be?
A: Dual colored nubs can be passed down to the offspring, but nub color is entirely up to the child’s owner! It’s also worth noting
that the counterpart upgrade, extra nubs, can also be passed down to a Daeling!
Q) If my Devidae has dual colored eyes (two eye colors in one eye), what will happen with their child’s eye color?
A: If a parent has dual colored eyes, we’ll offer you an optional secondary color option in addition to the first!
Q) If my Devidae has the remove a limb upgrade, can the Daeling also have this upgrade?
A: No. Remove a limb and other injury upgrades cannot be passed down through breeding. If you want to apply injury
upgrades to a Daeling, you will have to use upgrade seeds.
Q) Which user owns the Daeling once it’s uploaded?
A: Whoever uploads the application to DeviantArt and submits it to the Daeling Approval Journal will auromatically be the
owner of the Daeling. If you wish to co-own the Daeling with other users, simply make note of that information in the
description. If you wish to change ownership information at any time after approval for any reason, simply note the group.
Co-owning means neither person receives gift devits when drawing the Daeling, and both people are responsible for settling
disputes regarding the character of upgrade placements.
Q) What if I want to donate the Daeling for story-related purposes?
A: If you wish to donate your bred Daeling for plot purposes, simply include that information in the note application! The mods will design the Daeling, and it will eventually be uploaded as a freebie on the group’s resource account!
