Adult Guide
It's now come to the point where your Daeling is one month old (in real time, of course), and assuming you've completed at least 3 colored fullbody deviations of them, these little squishy beans are ready to grow on up!
Growing up a Daeling is important because it opens up a whole new world for them! Not only will they be able to obtain Adult Upgrades, but they may also partake in battles and equip special items such as Artisan Items for various effects, or an Enchanted Weapon for combat! Adults are also able to proceed to higher tiers of magic!
We won't force you to grow up your dae when they are old enough to, as it is entirely up to you-- but be aware that adult Devidae can do far more than any Daeling ever could.

Body Forms
Devidae naturally come in FOUR different forms; anthro, cervid, ave, and serpent. It may be hard to decide on which one you want to grow your Daeling into! These body types can be vastly different in size and shape. Some adults may be tall and lanky while others take a more stockier appearance.
Growing up a Daeling and choosing its form is an irreversible action, but luckily this guide can break down each type to help you choose the best course to take!

Bipeds (Anthro)One of the most common Devidae forms! Biped Devidae are most commonly seen as jacks-of-all-trades. Many are artisans and crafters, but are just as proficient in wielding weapons!

Quadrupeds (Cervid)Another common type! Quadrupeds are often merchants and traders, able to pull their wares around with great ease-- but this doesn't exclude them from being able to do what a Biped can! Several magic teachers and even Onset's Guard Captain are Quadrupeds!

Raptors (Aves)Raptors are less common, but are just as valid as a body type as any! These guys are amazing runners and jumpers, perfect for being messengers or anything that requires a lot of activity.. or perhaps a Devidae who takes after the more birdlike roots of the species?

Noodles (Serpents)Noodles are less common, but are just as valid a body type as any! Noodles have an unrivaled reach and are often the largest Devidae in both size and length! They tend to be energetic bundles of joy, and many are performers! Farmer Noodles are not uncommon either.

BUT WAIT-- There's More!!!
One feature we take pride in in Devidaes is allowing as much diversity as possible. This sentiment even extends to the forms we just went over!
YOU ARE BY NO MEANS FORCED TO FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE IMAGES BY THE BOOKS.
If you want your Quadruped to be tall with thin legs, go for it! Perhaps your Biped is longer in the torso than the legs! Just like in real life with humans, an infinite amount of possibilities are open for you to explore!
We even compiled a list of examples just to demonstrate what we mean!

Application Arts
Now that you've chosen which form you want your Daeling to grow up into, it's time to make the art!
In General
There are some things that apply to both the Daeling and adult application art! Please keep all these important points in mind.
- Please check and make sure that the mouth is smooth and not shaped a particular way because changing mouth shape is an upgrade
- Make sure that your Dae's head is rounded and not boxy because that would require the change head shape upgrade
- Don't add shading/highlights/textures to your application art. While this may look good, it obscures details and makes it difficult/impossible to check for color accuracy.
- Make sure not to make the nubs too big or too tiny!
- Don't add or remove any upgrades on the application! Make sure to add/remove upgrades BEFORE making the application, or wait until after your dae is approved
- Make sure to save your file with layers! While adult approvals tend to be easier than Daeling approvals, it's better to be safe than sorry.
- Don't change your Dae's placements and colors from the Daeling application! The only exceptions to this would be if you applied a color-related upgrade to your Devidae.
- Please try to keep your art neat and clean! A lot of messiness and sketchy lines will obscure details or make it look like there are markings where they shouldn't be.
- The main poses for your application should be a basic standing pose, no action/motion/floating poses please! (If your dae has no legs at all, you can draw them floating) For daelings, quad adults, and aves, they should be drawn in side view. Anthros should be drawn in a front, 3/4ths, or side view, extra views optional unless needed for whatever reason.
- Make sure to depict your dae's upgrades correctly!
- If something important is hidden by other upgrades, like eyes covered by hair, you should draw what it looks like somewhere off to the side.
- Under NO circumstances can you completely change your dae's nub color! It should be the exact same as on their daeling application, or exactly how it looked when dual colored nubs was applied to them, if applicable.

Daeling Form Art
When drawing this up, please make sure to follow the general guidelines for Daelings set by the Daeling creation guide and Daeling approval journal! Daelings have short and chunky legs that are smaller at the hooves than the top of the leg, make sure their legs aren't skinny!
Adult Form Art
Please make sure that they have all the required attributes for their form!
A quick recap of key features:
Anthros stand upright on two ungulate legs. They have 2 hoof fingers and 1 hoof thumb on each hand.
Cervids stand on four legs, each ending in a single hoof. Their torsos are stout and are high off the ground (like a deer!).
Aves stand up with a slanted posture on two ungulate legs. They have 3 hoof fingers and NO thumb on each hand.
Serpents stand on four legs, each ending in a hoof. They have very long necks and bodies. They are close to the ground (like a ferret!).
Make sure that your Dae's adult form doesn't just look like an enlarged drawing of their Daeling form! This can sometimes be an issue with cervid approvals. Some things to help you keep them distinct from each other is to remember that cervids can have longer and skinnier necks than any daeling could, they can have longer and skinnier legs than any daeling without limb upgrades, and the front legs don't have to be chubby!

Applications
Time for a very important step: adding your Devidae to the grow up template!
This here is the grow up template! Now that you've selected/drawn up a new image of their daeling form, just go ahead and plop it in the small white box! You should place the drawing of their adult form in the larger orange section.
Once you have your template completed, please put this form in the description: Name: Your Devidae's current name! Please remember that if you've changed their name since making them, or wish to change their name in the future, you'll need to head on over to the Devidex and update their information! CCN: Your Devidae's CCN number so we can find it easily! You can find this on their Daeling application, or if you have an older Devidae, you'll have to dig through the Devidex to find them. Form: Is your Devidae a raptor/noodle/biped/cervid? Current upgrades: What upgrades does your Devidae have right now? Please list every single upgrade they currently have Daeling App: Link your Devidae's Daeling application Images: Link all 3 separate colored fullbody deviations. The daeling application does NOT count towards this total! |
Don't forget to count your devits! All new art counts for devits, any reused art doesn't count for devits since it's already been counted.
Once that's all set to go, post it to DeviantArt, NOT your sta.sh, and leave a comment on the Growup Approval Journal linked below! Remember to make a separate comment for EACH approval!

Congratulations! You just grew up your Devidae!
